At last: MERCY JOHNSON's Traditional Wedding Held

Despite opposition from the ex-wife of her fiance, Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson is going ahead with her wedding to Prince Odi! GIST PLUS gathered that, Mercy and Prince Odi celebrated their traditional wedding on Friday, 26th August, 2011. And while Mercy Johnson’s PR agency is confirming Prince Odianosen Okojie formally divorced his estranged wife on Tuesday 23 August, 2011, Lovely Okojie is singing a different tune saying she never signed divorce papers. According to what GIST PLUS stumbled, Lovely released the following statement: “I never signed any divorce papers. No member of my family signed any divorce papers. In fact there was no court hearing on Tuesday August 23. There was a hearing last week Wednesday where my father, sister, and lawyer represented me, but the case was postponed to Monday August 22. My family members didn’t show up on that day. So who signed the divorce papers? Also how can a court in Edo State divorce us when we got married in Italy? The only way Odi can divorce me is to go to the courts in Italy after a 3-year official separation or ask Italy to transfer the case to Nigeria.”
Nawa o! Whatever the case is, Mercy is moving forward with her white wedding tomorrow. Congrats to the happy couple!

CHRIST EMBASSY Finally Stops MERCY JOHNSON's August 27 Wedding!

If the information available to GIST PLUS is anything to go by, then, controversial Nollywood actress mercy Johnson has finally called off her planned wedding to Odianosen Okojie. This is coming after an allegation of husband snatching was leveled against the actress by Okojie’s wife, Lovely. The development has made nonsense of the glam and allure attached to the impending union in the last couple of weeks. Mercy reportedly made move to absolve herself of the allegation and revamp her battered image.
Her not so buoyant public rating had nose dived when Lovely went public with the allegations that the groom Mercy intended to walk down the aisle with is actually another woman’s husband. Before this disclosure, the Kogi born actress had junketed severally on the pages of celebrity journals feeding the world with details of her love story- and visions of a wedding to be proud. Apparently she only provided fertile ground for a hard to live down scandal to explode and thrive. Sources close to the actress claimed that her major sin is not taking off time to know her husband to be thoroughly- she merely swallowed hook line and sinker the tissues of mirage her prince charming fed her.
Insiders alleged that indeed Okojie told her he had child from broken marriage- but not children and wife hidden away. Informed sources disclosed that now that it has dawn on her that her marriage plan to her dream man is rapidly slipping out of her reach, Mercy’s preoccupation right now is to protect her career. Calling off the marriage is an advised move aimed at portraying her in good light with fans and critics. She’s said to have intimated stakeholders of this development.
She is being back in this line of action by Christ Embassy, the church that was supposed to host the wedding. Source claim that despite this move- Okojie is still begging the actress to let them go ahead. This appears far from becoming reality- even if Mercy agrees- with his wife, Lovely putting things in place to storm the country from her base in Canada and put a stop to the wedding by all means.

Ghanaian insult Nigerians: Thank God we’re not a Nigerians!

If the information available to GIST PLUS is anything to believe, then, in this groovy song titled ‘Thank God we’re not a Nigerians‘ , Ghanaian group, FOKN Bois, reminds Nigerians of the negative sides of the country. In the song, the group poked fun at Nigeria’s Fela, traffic jams, 419, electricity problem and more. But at the end they did offer Nigerians hope by telling them that at least they’re better than the Liberians.lol.

Want To See Myself At The Top - REGINA RAY

Want To See Myself At The Top - REGINA RAY

Regina Ray is a new entrant into the Nigerian music industry and she is set to hit the industry with a bang when her debut album hit th
e market. This Edo State-born singer married to a French national, in this chat with GIST PLUS, she revealed that she has been into music for the past two and half years now and many more. Excerpt.

Tell us about yourself?
I am Regina Ray, I’m from Edo State, but married to a French national with a son. I am a student at the Alliance Franchee. I love singing and dancing. In fact, I have been into the music industry for two and half years now. I actually started in Port Harcourt, and my first musical video was titled “Juju” featuring Funky. The second video “You De Break My Heart” is currently rocking the airwaves, which a lot of people are already in love with.

How did you come into the music industry?
I came into the music industry when one of my friends encouraged me to take up music professional, saying since I have a very good voice and know how to sing too. Since then, those that have come across to my music don’t have any choice than to appreciate what I can offer.

What are the challenges you have faces since you came into the music industry?
Lot of challenges that have to do with money and human being, but one must also know that there nothing in life without it’s challenges. So the challenges that have come my way so far are not new and not what I can not over come.

When do you hope to release your first album in the market?
If all things work out well, as I am presently discussing with some marketers, I think by December this year, it will be release.

With ever growing Nigeria music industry, what are you coming to contribute in the industry?
I am an inspirational musician. I am coming to give people hope on love, life to their career, destiny life challenges among others. I am that musician coming to be the real role model the up and coming musicians truly look up to in future. My songs will let people know that no matter the challenges one might be facing, if one work hard, he will definitely achieve bountiful success.

Who are your role models in the Nigeria Music industry of today?
I like D’Banj, Asa and PSquare, but this does not mean I do not appreciate others. In fact, the Nigerian musicians are very creative and they are doing wonderfully well.

Where do you hope to see yourself in the next five years musically from now?
By the special grace of God, I hope to see myself at the top where people should be able to appreciate me and my music, and also talk very good of me.

Who are the artistes you will like to have music collaboration with?
I would love to have music collabo with D’Banj, Asa, Psquare and MI.

With the piracy problem in the industry today, are you not afraid venturing into the industry?
The problem has long been there and many of artistes are still joining the industry, I don’t see why I should be afraid, moreover, a lot is being done to reduce the piracy problem and coming into the industry, I am going to join hand with others to see what we can both do about it. However, the government at all levels should also do more on this, the musicians themselves have to come together for what they truly want.

Are you aware of the musical body called PMAN?
Yes, I am actually planning to belong to the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

The shows you have performed.
I have not really performed in any shows in Lagos since I just relocated from Port Harcourt, but In Port Harcourt, I did took [art in so many that I have sincerely lost count of,

What are the things that motivate you before going on stage?
Oh! Dressing very sexy of course motivates me.

Then when you are on stage?
I dance a lot. I am a good dancer and good music makes me to its rhythm, and if I have good back up dancers too, it motivates me also.

Have you experienced any negative remarks from the public?
No, because I always make my private life right.

How do you carry your audience along?
Whenever I am on stage performing, I love to come down to Nigerian flavour by using Pigin English to sing instead of using too much grammar. Moreover, I must add here that it depends on the events, because every audience has its own way of approach. If your audience is those that love street music, you have to come to their level. One just has to flow with his or her fans in the best level they can understand and appreciate the music. It is the event that determines how I carry the audience when on stage.

The craziest thing you have ever done on stage?
Wearing bum short, I like to look sexy on stage. Some people normally think that I am a crazy person, but that is me, I hate to pretend. I like wearing short things on stage; it brings out the best from me.

How do you balance your home front and music career?
My husband is very understanding and supportive of my music career. I balance them up very well. I want to add here that my family comes first before music, so I don’t want my music career to come before my family. I love my husband and son; they are first before my music. Though, I need money, but I am not into music for the primary objective of money.

Are you planning to take to music professionally?
Yes, professionally, even in abroad, musician still do other things apart from music.

Advice to up and coming musicians.
You just have to work hard, pray to God to grant you favour in all you do, because without God’s favour, all your labours will definitely be in vain. Do not come into the industry because of money or fame as the primary objective, but come into the industry for the love and passion you have for music and entertainment in general, then fame and fortune will be added unto you.

BRIDGETTE PETERS Lands With “KIDZ STAR SHOW”

If there is anything that featured prominently in the entertainment industry of Nigeria in the last decade, that definitely is the proliferation of reality TV shows in Nigeria with various facets of the entertainment industry as platform for expressions and discovery. The decade has seen various talented people discovered and celebrated in music, fashion, movies and others, all contributing their own experience into showing the numerous wealth of talent that abound in Nigeria. Unfortunately, as much as many of these talent shows have been patronized by people and enjoyed by the whole family or targeted audience, none has been targeted or created towards the younger class of the family, “the kids”. None has been conceptualized to explore, celebrate and discover the talents that abound in the Nigeria kids. GIST PLUS can reveal that De Peters Kidz Voice Nigeria Limited, organizers of the Kidz Show” is a company incorporated in Nigeria. The show is intends to be shared with children, It is designed to provide a safe, dedicated area for children where they can express themselves, meet other kids and enjoy what they love doing. “The gift of imagination that children possess must be nurtured carefully if they are to become creative leaders of the future. In a media last week, the organizers said: “It’s never too early to begin imagination and encourage singing. It’s a powerful way of developing social skills. Singing makes an excellent starting point”. Bridgette Peters’ led outfit will be partnering with Adeyinka Oduniyi’s-led Audio Visual First Limited, a production outfit that has its core competence in marketing communications. GIST PLUS gathered that “Kidz Star Show” is an hourly family musical talent show for kids between ages seven to fifteen. The show in thirteen weeks will take selected kids through musical training and tasks to bring out the best in the kids crown the champion and subtly celebrate working relationship between parents and their wards as parents of selected kids will be inculcated into the show. Auditions and lives shows will be held in Lagos. This is definitely going to be a chance to develop a sense of self confidence for the child and an increasingly complex society.

TEAR All The Way, As AGUDA MARKET Burns Down

We just got information that popular Surulere, Lagos, local market fondly called Aguda market was almost completely burnt down on Saturday 30th of July 2011. When GIST PLUS arrived at the scene they were met by chaos and wailing from many women who lost all they’ve been toiling for to the wicked flames. It was a very sad sight. At the time of going to the press, the cause of the fire has not been ascertained. We hope that Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola will quickly come to their aids.
